Patterns from Mauritius
(Part 1)
This concept was inspired by the need to promote Mauritius culture through fashion products. Fashion and culture, while coexisting harmoniously, complement one another. Civilisations use their own clothing and accessories to make fashion statements to set them apart from others. Fashion can be a powerful tool for promoting culture by incorporating traditional elements into contemporary designs, showcasing unique materials and craftsmanship, and raising awareness about cultural traditions and practices.

Moreover, fashion can also be used to express one's cultural identity, which is especially important in today's globalized world. People often use fashion to showcase their cultural heritage and to express their connection to their roots.

My goal with this project was to create surface pattern designs that highlight elements from our intricate and rich heritage. By promoting culture through fashion, we can celebrate diversity and promote cultural understanding and appreciation. It is important to respect and acknowledge the cultural origins of fashion and to use it as a tool to promote cultural exchange and dialogue.
